SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. — A dramatic confrontation unfolded Saturday afternoon in a quiet Sherman Oaks neighborhood after a Southern California mother sped back to her home and rammed the getaway vehicle of suspected burglars, according to local law enforcement and surveillance video released today.

The incident began shortly after the woman, who asked to remain anonymous for safety reasons, stepped out to grab coffee while her three young children and their grandmother were inside the house on the 4400 block of Mammoth Avenue.

Panicked Mother Turns Her SUV Around to Intercept Burglars

Just minutes after she left, the grandmother called in a panic, shouting that intruders were attempting a home invasion, prompting the mother to urgently turn her Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon around and head back toward the property.

Security camera footage shows the mom arriving in her luxury SUV and slamming into a white sedan parked in front of the home — believed to be the burglars’ getaway car. The impact lifted the sedan’s tires over the curb, and the collision sent three suspects sprinting on foot down the street, according to the video.

Suspects Flee, Evidence Left Behind

Los Angeles Police Department officers later conducted a search of the abandoned vehicle and discovered items suggesting criminal intent, including a wallet with a driver’s license, a red crowbar and a walkie-talkie tuned to LAPD radio frequencies.

As of Monday evening, no arrests had been made in connection with the attempted burglary or the suspects who fled the scene. Investigators are reviewing the surveillance video and physical evidence in hopes of identifying those involved.

Family Shaken; Community Talks About Home Security

Neighbors and onlookers described the scene as shocking, noting that residential burglary attempts in Los Angeles neighborhoods have raised safety concerns. Many area residents say they’re now considering enhanced security measures after watching the dramatic dash-cam and surveillance footage circulate online.

The family, still shaken from the ordeal, told local media they were relieved their loved ones were safe and unharmed, though the incident has left them wary about leaving home unattended.
